Software normally refers to computer programs which have to be installed onto computers.  Their installation involves them being linked to the operating system in order for them to function properly.  This means that they cannot be moved to another computer.  The original disks are needed to install software on another computer.

However, most programs allow you to save files (such as documents and spreadsheets).  This data can be moved.  There are various ways to move data from your laptop to your PC vice versa.  Having both computers connected to a laptop is normally the fastest transfer method but can be complicated to access or setup. USB sticks are fast and efficient as are all removable devices such as Hard Drives etc. However, leaving the data on the transfer device after you have transferred it has the potential of creating a security risk.  These two methods are the most common although sending attachments by email is sometimes utilised.

Bluetooth connectivity can also be used to transfer data between 2 devices and floppy disks were a popular transfer medium.
